Kylian Mbappé is back where he belongs. EA Sports has officially named the Real Madrid superstar as the cover athlete for the upcoming EA SPORTS FC title. After making history as the global face of FIFA 21, FIFA 22, and FIFA 23, this marks Mbappé’s fourth appearance as the sole or headline cover star of football’s biggest gaming franchise.
Having ceded the spotlight in recent editions to Erling Haaland (EA FC 24) and Jude Bellingham (EA FC 25), Mbappé’s return coincides with his dominant status at Real Madrid and his commercially explosive 2026 World Cup campaign.
The Financial Blueprint: What Is the Cover Worth?
While EA Sports keeps contractual terms strictly confidential, industry estimates value a tier-one global EA SPORTS FC cover endorsement between €6 million and €10 million per year.
Unlike standard image-rights deals, this revenue is managed through Mbappé’s French-based investment holding structure, KEWKF.
The Tax Impact: France’s Corporate Lens
Because his commercial rights are channeled via a French corporate entity rather than direct personal income:
- Corporate Tax (IS): The gross endorsement is subject to France’s standard corporate income tax rate of 25%.
- Net Holdings Retention: From an estimated €8M gross payout, the holding retains approximately €6M net for reinvestment into real estate, tech funds, and venture deals.
- Personal Dividend Distribution: If Mbappé distributes these earnings to himself as a physical person, the French Flat Tax (PFU) of 30% applies, bringing the final personal cash-in to roughly €4.2M to €4.5M.
By keeping the capital inside his French holding, Mbappé optimizes his cash flow, transforming virtual gaming dominance into permanent real-world capital.
